This sophisticated and traditional home on White Bear Lake was built to complement a remarkable collection of furnishings and décor curated over a lifetime. The homeowners wanted a “new” old house, which we achieved through the use of sincere, authentic materials like cedar siding, wood windows and screens, split fieldstone and American cherry. A lake-facing sunroom with three walls of windows features a cedar-shake fourth wall and lacquered wood floor. Upstairs, the guest bedrooms are made special by the second oversized bathroom and cleverly placed pocket doors to allow guests to create a private suite separate from the master suite. From the wood-burning, cast-stone fireplace in the living room to the terra cotta tiles and bead board ceiling in the kitchen, to the porch and patio created entirely of vintage St. Paul street brick, this house is an embodiment of the homeowners’ lives.
